Grand City Hotel

One of the worst hotels I've ever seen. It was filthy everywhere. They wouldn't give us the elevator key until we'd paid. We also asked about a Nile cruise, and they quoted 25€ per person, though the actual price was 10€. So unprofessional and disgusting. Don't go there.

The room had no towels or kettle. The balcony wouldn't close, the window was broken and wouldn't shut properly, and it was extremely noisy at night. From arrival, things were disappointing. The building entrance was dirty and in poor condition, and the elevator felt unsafe and unfit for people to use. At reception, Seif was extremely rude and disrespectful when I asked to pay by card. He said cards weren't accepted. When I suggested an Instapay transfer, he demanded extra money for supposed withdrawal fees, which I refused. The taxes listed on Booking.com were also inaccurate, and the hotel charged more than the amount shown. The staff's behaviour damages the place's reputation. They don't treat guests properly or respectfully, and many Booking.com reviews mention rude, unprofessional behaviour. It was a very bad experience, and I absolutely don't recommend this hotel.

The location is handy for downtown Cairo, but the place is basically a handful of rooms on the fifth floor of a building, with hardly any sign outside. Our room had no windows and looked nothing like the photos. The sheets seemed clean or not depending on your view, and nobody cleaned or made up our room during the three days we were there.

The elevator seemed old and unreliable, and the facilities felt dated. Staff didn't seem interested in sorting out the problems. Our bed and covers were very uncomfortable, and although we asked for extra blankets, they said there were no others beyond the thin covers in the room. It was very cold, so sleeping was rough. There wasn't even soap, shampoo, or shower gel. A disappointing stay that needs basic improvements.
