Grand Agor Hotel

The rooms were actually quite nice, despite the hotel's very old building. My main room complaint was the sheets, which were so old and rough they felt like sandpaper against my skin. Water pressure was great, but there was hardly any hot water during the day. Breakfast was simple, pleasant and filling. The location is central in downtown Cairo. If you're visiting the pyramids or other sites, though, I'd look for somewhere closer with a view of them. The staff were very friendly, and I appreciated all their help. Finding the entrance late at night was difficult because the doors were closed. Once we located them, we knocked for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then we noticed a cable coming from a third-floor window to a buzzer. We pressed it, and that was the hotel's doorbell.

I walked to the Cairo museum from this well-located hotel. The staff were kind and friendly, and sharing lunch and dinner with them became one of my best Cairo memories. My room was nice, clean and quiet. I'd recommend it to solo travellers or small groups.

The room was clean, grandly decorated and had an attached washroom. The glass bathroom was a little inconvenient because it didn't offer the privacy needed for bathroom routines. I was in a twin-bed room, but the washroom seemed like one from a honeymoon suite. Although the hotel is part of an old building, the hotel itself is modern and has all the amenities. Its prominent location is close to Tahir Square and Egypt museum. Breakfast was average: boiled eggs, bread, juice and coffee. I thought the place was a little expensive for the services and amenities.

I stayed here on 16-17 November 2023, and things were okay overall. The toilet shower had very little water coming out, so check the bathroom water if you plan to stay. I had also booked 22-24 November, but on the night of the 21st I suddenly received a WhatsApp saying the hotel had an emergency and my booking was cancelled. It was so late that I didn't know what to do. I still wonder why they waited so long to tell me.
