We only needed somewhere for a few hours before our early flight, and this worked out well for the price, around $25 a night in Feb'24. The staff were great and even gave us breakfast at dinner time since we had to leave so early. The shared eating area was a highlight. The hostel is in a lively part of town, and the room was cleaner and more comfortable than I expected for the cost, though it was small and the bathroom was average. Don't expect anything fancy. The building itself seemed sparsely occupied and not in the best condition. Still, it was good value for a couple of nights.

We stayed at WakeUp twice on our Egypt trip and had a good time both visits. The team were friendly and attentive, and we could leave some bags there for three weeks while we travelled and returned later. Breakfast made for an easy start, and they could prepare it early or pack it to go when we had an early flight or a trip to Gizeh. We booked the double room on Agoda with a discount for 10€/night. The hostel is handy for getting around, with Tahrir within walking distance and public transport, restaurants, sights, and shops close by.

The indoor lounge was full of cigarette smoke, and because the space is compact, I could smell it in my room and whenever I stepped outside. That made the stay unpleasant, so I hope they reconsider allowing smoking inside. Otherwise, it's a good inexpensive place downtown, with a central location, clean rooms, a comfortable bed, a warm shower, and friendly, professional staff.

The room was okay for one night, and the smell in the toilet wasn't too much of a problem during our short stay. They said it had been fixed that day and the smell should go away. It's on the 7th floor with a nice view, and there are lots of restaurants nearby.
