Gutierrez Apartment

The rooms are fresh and newly renovated, with private entrances and jacuzzis on the ground floor. I’ve stayed in two of them now, once driving down the coast and again on the way back up. I was already very happy after the first booking, but the second was even better. They’re thoughtfully laid out and really relaxing. Mercadona is 3-4 minutes away, the beach and city center are a 10 minute walk one way, and Plaza Mar shopping center is 10 minutes the other way. There are cafes and restaurants around the neighborhood too. Very pleased!

We found parking without trouble, even though the neighborhood is busy. The apartment is close to the center, about a 10 minute walk from the central market, and near the path that goes up to the castle from behind. The apartment itself was spotless, though the building entrance was quite dirty, which seems down to the residents. It’s on the first floor, but feels more like the second because of the mezzanine, and there’s no elevator. The sofa is very poor quality; we told them so they can consider replacing it. The fridge makes quite a bit of noise, though shutting the bedroom door keeps it out. There are no blinds, but the thick curtains block all the light.

We ended up leaving early and losing money because of the shouting and fighting at night, the awful smell that we couldn’t get rid of at all, and the uncomfortable sofa bed and bunk beds. The double bed was very comfortable, and the apartment was clean with good service, but those problems made the stay too difficult. I’d spend a little more and find another apartment or hotel.

Lovely hosts, and the place was clean and cozy. I slept well on the comfortable bedroom mattress. Wonderful stay!
