It's a great base for exploring the area, especially if location matters and you're only staying briefly. The basics are there, but it's an old building and parts look tired. I wouldn't expect luxury, and it may not suit anyone who needs uninterrupted sleep or doesn't want minor frustrations. Our room was basic. The shower was below UK standards, with weak pressure and changing temperatures. There was no wardrobe or bin, the toilet seat was loose, and the lighting was poor. Room 203's ceiling had a lot of flaking paint. It would be good to rub it down and repaint it, since guests lying in bed do notice ceilings. The lift also felt a little shaky. Maybe that's just the building's age, but after using it once we took the stairs. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and we appreciated the few complimentary minibar drinks. The location was noisy, although much of it was outside the hotel's control. The local authority jet-washed the street outside at 1 am on the first night and midnight on the second, disturbing our sleep. Deliveries to nearby bars and restaurants started around 6 am, with shouting, crates clanking and vehicles coming and going. Street noise is something to bear in mind.
The rooftop terrace is a nice place to sit, and there's a room service menu, mostly drinks, at very reasonable prices. This little gem is in a great spot opposite the cathedral. Rooms are a decent size, beds are very comfortable, and I was glad the double glazing kept out most of the noise I was worried about. I've stayed at a few hotels in Alicante, including the Melia and Euro, and we'd stay here again.
Our stay was pleasant, but the bedroom needs a lot of care. The bed was too close to the door, and there wasn't enough room for clothes. The bathroom also needs plenty of work for a superior room: the toilet was too close to the wall, leaving little space for toiletries. There were small wall baskets for toiletries, but they were very dirty inside. My wife and I didn't feel this was a superior room.
The location in Alicante's old town is outstanding, and the public areas are impressive. This stylish boutique hotel occupies a renovated historic building. Our corner room was spacious, stylishly decorated and had a relatively large bathroom. Street noise can be an issue, particularly at night. Highly recommended.
The location is excellent, and the hotel has a beautiful 17th-century building. But room 101 was a different story. It felt basic, worn, and dirty, nothing like the “Boutique” description on booking sites. There was black mould around the shower and toilet, plus a stained curtain. The only window faced an internal guest corridor, so we had to keep the curtain shut for privacy and got no natural light. Storage was just a clothes rail above a fridge unit with an unfinished side. There were no drawers or wardrobe, and only a small shelf instead of a dressing table. Damp showed on the exposed ceiling beams, and paint splatters covered the reinforced steel girders. We raised these problems and were offered one other room, which was only slightly better, so we stayed in 101. Management was “unavailable” while we were there. I’ve also sent two follow-up emails and still haven’t had a reply.
