Astoria

For shopping and seeing the city on foot, the location is perfect, with many key sights within walking distance. The rooms are small and somewhat dated, which reflects the building’s age, but the service quality and professionalism were excellent.

Getting to the attractions and restaurants was easy from this hotel. Our room was fresh, clean, and very comfortable, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay, highly recommend it, and look forward to coming back.

It was easy to get around from here, while still being outside the main tourist area. Our room was clean and had a nice city view. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

The hotel gave us breakfast to make up for the noise, but offered no room move or other way to address it. Our key cards also nearly stopped working every day. Staff said that visiting shops and similar things can cause it, but I’ve never had this issue at other hotels. Hotel Astoria is a beautiful old building in the wonderful Eixample area, with great restaurants and lovely views close by. Its marble interiors are also a serious flaw: sound carries through the halls and building, so we could hear neighbors talking and showering. At night, noisy people coming home woke us several times. I’m used to city sounds, but this was on another level. Poor sleep and doors that don’t respond are major problems for me, so I can’t give more than two stars until the chain shifts money from flashy interiors to practical fixes.
