El Palauet Royal Suites Hotel

The hotel's outdoor terrace events went on late into the night and early morning. Even after several complaints, they kept letting people use the terrace, which directly affected the rooms above, as others have mentioned. Clearly, they care more about event revenue than their hotel guests.

We stayed with our two kids, and they enjoyed the space as much as we did. The balcony had such a Gaudí feel, almost like a work of art, while the stained-glass details cast extraordinary reflections in the sunlight. The architecture is stunning, and our suite was beyond perfect. I never expected to enjoy a condo-style hotel so much. The young staff were professional and incredibly kind, making us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. A truly unforgettable stay. Highly recommend!

The hot water issue made the grandeur of the suites fade fast. My 85 year old father had booked Suite Magin ($2,040 Euro/night) and Suite Bonaventure $2,635/night, so we had the whole floor and private entrances to our suites. We stayed at beautiful El Palauet for 2 days after finishing our Mediterranean Cruise in June 2025. On arrival, we were overwhelmed by the property's beauty and history. What could go wrong? The first morning, Dad had no hot water anywhere in his suite. He let the water run for 20 minutes in both showers and sinks, but it never got hot. We reported it to the front desk that morning and nothing was done. We asked again in the afternoon after a long, hot day of touring. Eventually they sent someone up to check, and after a quick look said they needed a contractor. When we returned from dinner, we asked for an update and were told a maintenance company couldn't come until the next day, after we checked out. That meant a cold shower again before flying back to the US. Certainly not acceptable. Before checking out, we asked for a discounted rate for the suite without hot water. The very young co-ed at the desk said it was “beyond her control” and told us to email her manger Eduardo after we got home to discuss a reduced rate. That's not the service you'd expect from a 5 Star hotel. Since returning, I've been in touch with Eduardo. As I suspected, he's describing the situation very differently from what happened, and no credit has been given. I travel extensively for work and pleasure, and honestly, I would've got more responsiveness from a 2 Star Holiday Inn or Marriott property. I'd look at other 5 Star properties in the area.

The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. For the price, it was the best value for money in Barcelona.
