Compared with this place, an atomic bunker feels like a 5-star hotel.

The location worked well for me: the metro and Park Guell are nearby, and it’s a pleasant neighborhood where you see more than just tourists. For the price, getting a private room with its own bathroom was unusual in Barcelona, especially with a booking made overnight. The room had air conditioning and a refrigerator, and you could borrow a hairdryer or iron for free. There was also a kettle and microwave in the lobby, and the staff were friendly. The downsides were a strong smell in the room, especially on the second day when it smelled of cigarettes, and mold in the bathroom from poor ventilation. There was no window, and payment at the property was cash only. Accommodation in Barcelona is very expensive, which has a big effect on the quality you get.

For a couple of nights, this hostel does the job well. The rooms are clean and match the pictures, and the staff are warm, friendly, and always greet you with a smile. The metro stop is right next door, too. At night, though, noise from other showers or the ventilation system bothered me.

The receptionist was friendly, and the location was okay, but we hope we don’t have to come back. Our room was almost at street level, with only a latch on the door between us and the avenue, so we kept hearing people and cars. There were no windows, which meant no ventilation. The mattress was too small for two, the bedding was dirty, and the bathroom wasn’t clean. When we arrived, there were used, open shower gel packets left by previous guests. The sliding bathroom doors also wouldn’t shut properly, so there was no privacy.
