My hotel cancelled while I was travelling from London to Barcelona, so I had to find somewhere else on the way. Ole cost £160 for six nights and did what I needed from a hostel. Having a kitchen was a big help, and the fridges and freezers were easy to use with very few rules. The room itself had a bed, table and chair, plus large doors opening onto a balcony, though you can’t smoke out there. The toilets, showers and rest of the building were always clean. We were on the top floor, up 99 steps. That was fine for us, but others may want to check before booking.

Being so close to Sagrada familia was lovely, and the view from the bathroom was great. The service was okay, but the place was dirty. The bathroom window wouldn’t shut, and the shower setup isn’t thought through: you have to be naked out in the corridor. I can’t imagine staying there in summer when it’s full.

The room was freezing and very noisy, and the door wouldn’t lock. The towel I paid for looked like it had AIDS / SIDA. I complained but wasn’t refunded, so I left after the first night. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had. It’s suitable if you’re a dog without an owner and your other option is sleeping on the street.

The sheets were dirty. We asked for replacements and got a set that was even dirtier. The twin room itself had been made out of what used to be a bathroom, with its window facing a light well. The website photos show rooms facing the street and don’t give you a picture of this setup. Also, the 48-hour cancellation policy means refunds aren’t possible for short stays. Awful experience.

REALLY REALLY BAD. The place smelled, the bathroom and toilet were awful, and the bedroom looked and felt like a prison cell. I didn’t feel safe there either. It’s the creepiest place I’ve ever visited. If you want to enjoy your stay in Barcelona, DON’T GO THERE AT ALL!!!
