Pensión Peiró

The room gets really hot, and there’s no AC, only a fan. The street is loud at night too. While we were there, the Pesión wasn’t very busy, and both the room and shared areas were clean. Check-in was easy, and there was a kettle and mugs in the corridor. It’d be useful to have a few basic dishes as well.

I had a small room with its own toilet and bathroom. It was clean and had a nice feel, and the place was especially quiet after 10pm. Other guests followed the rules, which made the stay great. They also cleaned my room even though I hadn’t asked. Finding the pension was confusing, though: the sign outside only showed its initial, so it wasn’t clear where the entrance was. I had a great time overall.

The room has almost no facilities: no AC, no separate charging sockets for two people, and a bathroom shared with other rooms. It feels like hostel accommodation at a three-star price. They do say it’s a one-star place, but even low-rated hostels give each bed its own socket. At 100 € a night, it’s far too expensive. Recently I had one of the best hotel rooms in Madrid for 70 € a night. I wouldn’t recommend this. Try another hotel.

I’d had a few mediocre stays elsewhere, so I wasn’t expecting much, especially with so few reviews online. But this place was a pleasant surprise: clean, well managed, with fast Wi-Fi and lots of spacious, clean bathrooms. The front desk staff were helpful and stored our luggage for free. It’s in an apartment building, so there’s no big sign outside, but Google Maps took me to the right spot.
