W Barcelona Hotel

The gym was a favorite, especially getting to work out with those panoramic Mediterranean views. Breakfast had plenty of fresh, tasty choices too. I celebrated my birthday at W Barcelona, which made the stay even more memorable. The room view was breathtaking, and I’d love to come back 😍

We were in Barcelona for three days after our cruise, and the staff were welcoming and polite. We arrived at 10am and were surprised to get our room key right away: a second-floor corner suite with a twin room attached for the kids. Our bags still hadn’t arrived by 5pm, so I went down and picked them up myself. No big deal. The room had plenty of space and good views, but it felt like it needed work. The master switch controlled every light, so it was all on or all off. The bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke, several power blinds had come off their tracks, and the shower knob was so worn that we thought we could only get lukewarm water. The toilet had no privacy at all, and you could hear everything. The carpet seemed original, thin, and worn. The TVs were out of service, though with the location we didn’t expect to use them much. After reading other reviews, I suspect some rooms have been renovated and ours hadn’t. The staff were kind, but for the price this felt more like a Holiday Inn than a luxury hotel. I’d look at the Arts Hotel if I came back. Staying here feels like a roll of the dice.

Noelia was a standout: immaculate, helpful, and accommodating the whole time, going out of her way each day to look after us. The Wet Bar has reopened and gives the hotel a great beach club feel. We also liked the location, within walking distance of the beach, good places to eat, and shopping. The rooms were just okay, though renovations were underway, so it was good to see upgrades happening. We’ve stayed at W Hotels around the world, and this is by far our favorite location. Right on the ocean, with incredible views from the room. I can’t wait to return to Barcelona and stay here again.

The service was 11/10, and the location works well if you like a resort-style stay. But my room had no bathroom door or soundproofing, and it was beside the lobby, where music plays all the time. The property apologized, but couldn’t move me to another room.
