Hostal Anna Benidorm

The beds were really comfortable and clean, and it was nice having a balcony. Our room was cleaned once during our two-night visit, which was good. We were also lucky to get a space in the underground parking. The hotel’s in a perfect spot, close to downtown but still quiet enough at night. Nice value for the price.

The rooms are spacious, with three single beds in each one, and there are storage locks if you don’t want to worry about losing the key. It’s a budget accommodation that should meet most of your accommodation needs. It’s not too far from the central part of the "party square" or the beach. You can get a taxi from anywhere by raising your hand and they’ll pull over.

The apartment itself was good and the host was good too, but getting there was a real problem. There’s a very steep hill and loads of stairs before you even reach the lift, then more stairs leading up to the apartment on the 14th floor. The lift doesn’t make that approach easy, so it wouldn’t suit anyone with mobility problems. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have booked, as there are much more accessible places than Anna. I’m glad we only stayed one night. The host has sent me several messages asking me to change my review because it wasn’t good for them, which I think is terrible. I’ve rewritten it to warn others. My review is real and honest.

We knew Hostal Anna was cheap, so we expected a basic room and some street noise. What we didn’t expect was a €400 bill from two traffic fines after using the hostal’s underground parking. Getting to the parking meant driving through a pedestrianised area, where two policemen on motorbikes stopped us. I emailed and WhatsApped the hostal repeatedly, asking them to confirm that we’d entered the restricted area briefly and only to reach their car park. They never replied. I’m very disappointed by the lack of customer service. It seems they’re no longer interested once they’ve got your money.
