Camping Caravaning Cuenca

The location is green and pleasant, but it’s in the middle of nowhere. There’s no supermarket at the campsite, just chips and a few small items at reception, and nothing nearby. Cuenca is about 15 minutes away by car for anything you need. There was no Wi-Fi or mobile signal at our site, so we felt completely cut off. Wi-Fi was only available at reception, and mobile service only in the restaurant, where you had to keep ordering and paying to sit and use your phone. The bathrooms and showers were dirty and rusty, and always smelled awful. The showers swung between freezing and scalding every few seconds, so it was impossible to have a proper shower. We saw no security guard or cameras in five days, maybe one near reception. The pool was large and beautiful, but very cold even in August and not maintained. Outside visitors could pay €8 per person to use it, and nobody checked who was entering, so the pool and campsite felt open to anyone and unsafe. My husband and I got food poisoning on the first day after eating meat at the restaurant. When we complained, they called us liars and were super rude. We asked for the manager, but were told he wasn’t there. The food was expensive and very poor quality. The staff seemed untrained and disrespectful, like robots. Nobody came to our table, so we had to chase them, and they only gave good service to large groups. If you didn’t spend much, you were invisible. The site itself looked awful. There are lots of permanent caravans, dirty and dusty, and people hanging underwear and sheets everywhere. People were smoking something with a smell that made us sick. There was noise through the night, with groups of teenagers sitting all over the place, even in the bathrooms, especially the baby changing room, smoking, playing loud music, and fighting until morning. It looked more like a refugee camp. We felt nobody cared or answered when we tried to complain. We were told they could throw us out without a refund. To me, this place is only about making money, with no hospitality, kindness, or security. Not recommended at all. The manager or owner replies to negative reviews, but when we tried to meet them, they were never available. We asked many times, and each time were told they were not there.

We loved the campsite, which was very well looked after, and the staff were great. There’s noise until midnight, but it didn’t bother us. We’re happy to go out or join in, and there’s plenty of room if you want more privacy or less noise. We were a little disappointed with our meal at the on-site restaurant because it was cold and not very tasty. Other dishes looked quite nice, though. We didn’t eat there again, but the staff were good and drinks were reasonably priced. The pool was getting a bit cloudy on our last day, which was also the last day it was open. There was plenty of room to sunbathe or sit in the shade, and the cafe had drinks at pretty good prices, two cans of beer for €1.50. The site is out in the country, so you need transport to get anywhere. Cuenca is great, with free parking at the very top of town and some nice restaurants there too, with great views down.

The pool and sports facilities are near the entrance, and the campsite sits among woodland that opens out towards fields. It’s a pleasant place to stay, about 15 minutes from spectacular Cuenca. There are many long-term caravans wrapped in tarpaulins, which don’t look very attractive, though I bet the site has a buzz when they’re occupied. I wouldn’t recommend the neighboring restaurant, but the campsite itself is a good place to stay.

The price was higher than the list said, and the power kept cutting out after 9 with no solution. The restaurant and pool were closed, and the pitches weren’t level. Not fun.
