Hotel Maria del Mar

I stayed for five days and enjoyed it a lot. It’s centrally located, well organized, and has lots of services included. The buffet was really tasty, and the staff were very cordial.

The woman who cleaned our room was so sweet with my stuffed animal. She always left it tucked in like it was going to sleep, which was really cute. One of the guards also danced with us whenever we saw him, and that was fun too. The location was great, and the food and staff were lovely. There were a lot of teenagers, though, so I can understand why older people might not enjoy staying there. But that’s the whole town, so I’m not sure what they expect.

The best parts were the location, security, and staff. The hotel is only a few metres from fast-food places, cafés, bars, and clubs, and the beach is a few hundred metres away. The guards were competent and kept the hotel and the area around it secure, even at night. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, though one receptionist sent us to the wrong side of the hotel when we arrived, and we had to look for our room. The stay itself was unpleasant. I didn’t expect much from the rooms, but was still disappointed. The beds were loose frames with unattached mattresses that squeaked and shifted with the slightest movement. The Wi-Fi was awful, and the air conditioning was broken in 30+ degree heat. There was a wide buffet selection, but most dishes were poorly prepared, bland, and some were inedible. We’d booked all-inclusive, but it didn’t cover everything. At breakfast, we could have juice or coffee/hot chocolate as well as water, while dinner included only water unless we paid extra. The entrance to the dining room smelled of rotten fish. Even knowing you can’t expect too much from the stars, I found it a terrible hotel for four stars.

Lloret de Mar itself was amazing, and we loved our time there. Most of the hotel staff and guards were lovely, friendly, and always ready to help, which made our stay easier. One receptionist, though, came across as rude and arrogant and let down the otherwise welcoming atmosphere. I don’t know her name. The air conditioning in our room made us all feel unwell. I suspect the vents haven’t been cleaned properly in a long time, and the hotel needs to look into it. With better maintenance and reception service, this hotel could be much better. Overall, we had a good experience.
