Apartamentos El Tiempo

Our confirmed reservation at Apartamentos El Tiempo Madrid was canceled just one week before arrival, with no reason given. We had booked directly by EMAIL through the official website well in advance. For days, our many emails, voicemails, and messages asking for a callback went unanswered. When we eventually reached them by phone, they said the room was no longer available, even though it had shown as available when we booked on their own platform. I repeatedly asked to speak with a manager about this last-minute decision, but they refused, and no manager ever called back. The trip involved an 80-year-old lady, so the possibility of reaching Madrid without confirmed accommodation was highly stressful and entirely unacceptable. On a later, desperate call, I said how disappointed I was and that their behavior was utterly unprofessional. A staff member abruptly disconnected the call. The lack of communication and disregard for guests' well-being and basic professional courtesy was appalling. Canceling confirmed bookings without explanation, refusing to communicate, and avoiding legitimate concerns creates an unacceptable risk for travel plans. I strongly urge anyone considering Apartamentos El Tiempo Madrid to reconsider and choose somewhere else to avoid potential nightmares and undue stress.

My Luxury suite with roof access reservation was canceled after I booked it for $155/night, then it was immediately listed again at $255/night. They said they couldn't process either my Visa or my Masters credit card. I booked another hotel with my Visa right away. Has anyone else had this kind of problem at this hotel?

For a central Madrid hotel, the price was reasonable, and we had breakfast included. The hotel is small, with plenty of staff who are attentive and dedicated. Everyone was friendly and responsive, and Natalia in particular was extraordinary. My wife and I spent 6 nights here in early May. Madrid was vibrant and busy, and I don't think the city sleeps much during tourist season. The location puts major attractions within a maximum 20 minutes' walk, and the subway station “Sol” is 5 minutes away on foot. This is a historic, authentic place in the Central area of Madrid, Europe. You're surrounded by tourists, restaurants, bars, entertainment, souvenir shops, culture, and history. If you stay conscious in a big City, we found the area very safe. Every interaction during our 6 days was positive and hassle free. Other reviews mention negatives that we noticed too. Some of the smaller rooms are noisy, while the bigger rooms are very quiet. If quiet matters, it's better to email the hotel directly. Internet access was adequate. If you need high speed 24/7 internet, maybe you should stay home. If you're looking for a North American style 4 star hotel, expect to pay at least twice or three times what this one costs. I'm not being paid to write this review. This is the only hotel I've stayed at in Spain, but I've travelled a lot in my seven decade of life and hope this helps while you're considering booking.

The beds were fine, the location was great, and the AC worked well. But the shower leaked all over, the towels barely dried you, and there were no soap dispensers like in other places. The apartments were noisy, too. We only had internet for 2 of our 6 nights, which was a problem since I had homework and no European phone plan. For this price, it wasn’t worth it. It might have been okay for a shorter stay.
