Madrid doesn't sleep, and this is a very busy street, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. I was happy with my stay, though. The place felt safe and secure, and Serafin, the kind fellow who runs the hostel, gave me a map of the neighborhood and carried my heavy suitcase up three flights of stairs. This was a nice surprise for a last-minute booking, especially at the price. It's centrally located, less than a five-minute walk to Callal metro and about ten minutes on foot to Plaza Major, Puerta del Sol, and the Opera. The rooms are basic but clean. Mine had lovely old-style window shutters that I could leave open all day.
