Woohoo Rooms Chueca

I’d stayed here several times before and had good experiences, so I chose to come back. The hotel had previously encouraged us to book directly for a “better deal,” and I did that for a five-day stay costing around €770. Now, because of unexpected health problems, I’m waiting for surgery and not fit to fly. My flights and bookings at other hotels were put on hold without trouble. Woohoo Hotels was the only one that wouldn’t accommodate the situation or offer an extension or credit for future use, despite the medical certificates, hospital letters and surgery dates I provided. It’s a lovely location and a charming hotel, which makes the lack of compassion and flexibility especially disappointing. I booked directly on their own advice as a returning customer and had hoped for a more human, understanding response. This has left me with a very negative impression, and I’ll be telling others so they know before booking.

I’d avoid room number 1. Its balcony faces the street, so you hear people walking by and chatting. The room door is also right by the building’s front entrance and close to the front desk. Every time someone comes in or leaves, you hear that door slam. We raised it with reception, but they just apologized with a sad face.

The main downside was how much noise came through the thin walls. Over the weekend, people in the hallways going into their rooms woke us several times. Otherwise, things were good. The room was spacious, with a large, comfortable bed, and the staff were helpful with everything we needed. The hotel is in a popular part of Madrid, close to the main spots, which was great.

There’s no central area to sit, as you might expect in a hotel. It’s really a set of managed rooms, and I hadn’t realized that before booking. Still, the room was clean, modern and nicely presented, with a smart look and a very good bathroom and shower. The location is fabulous and excellent value. Storage and furniture were sparse, though: very little hanging space, no chair or table to put things on, and just one hook for towels.
