Jardines de la Mata

The gardens were beautifully kept, the staff were wonderful, and the views really are spectacular. The hotel's furniture looked new and was comfortable. Our huge room had a large lounge and a massive terrace over the gardens. The bathroom was spotless, with a large double sink, and the bed was big and comfortable, though the pillows were dreadful. The air con worked extremely well, there was tea and coffee in the room, a working fridge, and a small complimentary bottle of water on the first day. The hair dryer even had a diffuser, which was a nice surprise. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was good, with hot torita and cossiants. The coffee machine was just okay. The pool area was good, but there weren't enough loungers for all the guests over the weekend. They sagged and should be replaced. Some of the large umbrellas were broken during our stay, and the triangle overhead canopies were available, though we weren't sure about their UV protection. There was no shade at all on our balcony, no umbrella or pergola cover, so using it in 37 degree heat was impossible. The location felt a little too far out for us. We walked on several days, but I think you'd need a car or use the local bus stop at the top of the main road. Street parking was fine during our first week of July. The dogs barking at the residential flats opposite were a pain, and the water in the shower and sink was barely hot during our stay.

This hotel is a peaceful oasis in a busy holiday town, with ample parking and easy access to Mojacar's restaurants and sights nearby. It's also close to the beach. The gardens are kept to perfection by a dedicated gardener. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and Maria Carmen at reception made our stay extra special with excellent service, local knowledge, and help with our Spanish.

It's a clean, tidy hotel in nice grounds, and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was okay, but you have to order it the night before. Even though we ordered for 08:30, nobody turned up until after 09:00. We also ate at the restaurant, and that was okay but nothing special. We'd stay again, though we might skip breakfast since there are other places nearby.

I love it here. Carolina was brilliant and helped me after my husband came off his scooter.
