Hotel Bordoy Continental Palma

The room was spacious, beautiful and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Federico at reception especially stood out. The hotel also has two meeting rooms, one seating 8 and the other 14. We didn’t eat at the hotel or use the fitness facilities. You can walk to the old town and harbor area, and you won’t regret staying here.

The breakfast chef was the one bright spot, making nice eggs to order. The location is okay, on the outer edge of the old town. The hotel feels dated, like its best days are long gone. Our room was cold, the bathroom had a hospital feel, and the wardrobe smelled mouldy. I might have overlooked some of that if the service had been good, but the front desk communication was very poor, and none of the staff ever smiled.

I’ve just checked in and I’m very disappointed. I booked expecting to use the spa this afternoon, but was told I couldn’t because I hadn’t reserved ahead. I checked the terms carefully before booking and there was no mention of this, so I feel misled. If I’d known, I would have booked somewhere else.

The room and bathroom were both spacious, and the staff did a good job keeping the room clean. Everyone was kind and friendly, from reception and housekeeping to the breakfast waiters. Breakfast was nice, with plenty of choices, and the utensils were clean and polished. We did have two small issues in the room. At night the bedside lamps were the only lights, so it wasn’t very well lit. Also, after some outings, the room would sometimes smell of sewage for a few minutes. It was horrible, but we were often heading straight back out, so we opened the window and didn’t mention it. If we’d stayed longer, we probably would have told the staff, and they likely could have sorted it out. We had a pleasant four-night stay in September and would definitely stay here again when visiting Palma.
