Hotel San Lorenzo - Adults Only

The location in the old district is good, and breakfast was very good. The woman who cooked and served it couldn't have been more helpful. Our junior suite was spacious, but dark and hot, with ineffective air conditioning even though it was under 20c outside. There were no toiletries apart from hand wash. The coffee pod machine came with only two pods and no milk or sugar, and there was no tea making setup, so I had to ask for a kettle. The TV was useless, with only a couple of Spanish channels. The old hotel has no lift, and the stairs are tricky if you're older or not very mobile. Reception was staffed at random times, and not often. It's advertised as four stars, which I think is generous. Three would be more appropriate. I'm surprised by the other reviews, or maybe we were just unlucky.

We had a large first-floor room with a shady terrace of our own and sun loungers, a sitting room opening onto it, a big bedroom, and a bathroom with a bath and shower. It was like finding a quiet oasis, even with bars and restaurants only steps away. This was just one night in June before our flight back to the UK. I'd booked near the Intermodal Station, then spotted this boutique hotel in an old mansion in Palma's narrow old-town streets. It looked much nicer than the modern corporate hotel and was £50 cheaper. The quirky rooms, small rooftop pool ringed with bougainvillea, and pleasant breakfast won us over. Fresh eggs can be cooked on request. The airport bus is nearby, about a seven-minute walk, and attractions are close too. I'd definitely stay again.

The pool area is quiet and pleasant, and breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean, the minibar was well stocked with local spirits, and the staff were kind and helpful. The hotel is right in the city center, about a five-minute walk from the cathedral. One catch: there's a music bar across the street, and rooms facing it get very noisy at night. You can hear every word from people smoking and hanging out outside. Luckily it was open only on Saturday, and Sunday night was calm. :)

We were lucky to get a junior suite with its own terrace, and it was just right for our week here. The small team were consistently friendly and professional, made us feel welcome, and served great breakfasts. The hotel sits on a quiet street in the old town, but the main Palma sights are just steps away. There are plenty of restaurants, museums, galleries, and monuments to explore. A friend recommended it from her past stays, and now we'd gladly recommend it for a couples' or adults' trip.
