Barceló Costa Vasca Hotel

The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was very good, and the restaurant and bar were beautiful. Breakfast was amazing, especially the freshly made scrambled eggs with cheese. The gym on site was very good too, at $8 a day. We could walk to everything we wanted to see, including the beach, funicular, and old town. The funicular route isn't accessible at all, with big stairs everywhere. You can also take bus 16 to get around. I'd stay here again and recommend it.

Breakfast was very good, and the staff were kind and helpful the whole time. We had a clean, comfortable room, and the window facing the inner area kept things so quiet that all we could hear was birdsong. The location suited us perfectly too, with everything close enough to walk to.

The gym and spa were the real highlight for us. The health club had every kind of machine I could think of, plus a hot tub pool, sauna, and steam room, and it was the best hotel gym and spa I’ve seen. We also liked the spacious, clean room with its large balcony, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Barceló Costa Vasca made a great base for pintxos outings, just a short drive from the old town. Breakfast had plenty of hot and cold choices, and our three-night stay was fantastic. Hard to believe it’s rated four stars rather than five. Thanks for everything!

Being moved to another hotel changed the whole setup of my trip. I booked specifically to stay in San Sebastián, but at check-in I was told that “problems with some rooms” meant I had to go to Hotel Tres Reyes San Sebastián, about 8 km away and roughly 20 minutes by taxi. It caused avoidable stress and disrupted my work schedule and meetings. If I’d wanted to stay outside San Sebastián, I would have booked there myself. The staff were courteous and tried to help, so this isn’t about their attitude. The way the situation was handled was unacceptable for a hotel of this category, and the solution was far below what I expected from Barceló. Very disappointing.
