Hotel Arbaso

We could walk 5-15 minutes to the beach, Old Town or the shops, and the hotel itself was beautiful and central. The staff were warm and helpful from before we arrived and throughout the stay. They arranged a car to collect us from Bilbao airport and take us back, and booked taxis whenever we needed one, so getting around was easy and stress-free. Their care was well beyond what I expected from a hotel of this caliber. Dinner at Restaurante Narru was a highlight, with some of the best food I’ve ever had. Book ahead and eat there! I’d recommend the hotel to anyone visiting San Sebatian and would happily stay again.

Narru room service was quick and convenient, and the staff were all kind and helpful. The hotel is a great base for seeing the city or catching a train. I loved the suite and its bathtub after a full day of walking. Would stay again.

Narru’s food was a real highlight, simple and memorable, and the breakfast eggs were among the best we’ve had. The gym, steam room and sauna were also great for fitting in a workout and then unwinding. Our room felt warm and comfortable despite its minimalist design. The bathroom was state-of-the-art, and we especially loved the two balconies, which brought in lots of light and looked out toward the cathedral. Hotel Arbaso is among boutique shops, with the beach a short walk away, so it was easy to experience San Sebastián from the moment we stepped outside. The welcome had a quiet, thoughtful warmth to it. Check-in and checkout were handled in advance, with no waiting. We left feeling thoroughly spoiled, and the stay will stick with us.

Arbaso is our latest San Sebastián find. We’ve stayed at the posh Maria Cristina, and Arbaso matches its standards, with service that might even be better. The rooms are roomy, very comfortable and full of natural light. With the windows shut, we heard no street noise, and the windows and finishes feel really solid and high-end. The complimentary minibar was partly stocked for our two nights, with the understanding that it wouldn’t be refilled. What was there was just right. There’s also a pillow menu, a Dyson hair dryer, a fantastic location and high-end touches throughout. Great value for the price and service. Highly recommend.
