Hotel Santanyi Port

Cala Figuera is a charming little fishing village with some good restaurants, and Mariano recommended a boat tour that we enjoyed. We’d happily return to Hotel Santanyi Port for another Mallorca holiday. From Mariano’s welcome at the front desk to the friendly staff and clean rooms, we felt at home throughout. The quiet, relaxing pool area is beautiful, breakfast buffet excellent, and the cocktails delicious, including the non-alcoholic ones. Our spacious, quiet room had air conditioning, a small balcony, comfortable beds and enough storage for clothes. A shelf in the shower for our own gels and more places to hang towels would make it better.

At €300 a night, I expected a lot more and have seen better on other trips, though maybe this is just the Mallorca average. The hotel itself is nice and the staff very friendly, but that didn't make up for the rest. I thought the price was about twice what you actually get. Breakfast and the rooms were average, and the location isn't especially appealing since there's little nearby. A €15 sandwich or pizza starting at €20 at lunch didn't match the quality either. From 3 PM, the pool became a public pool. Local residents arrived with their whole families for the bar's happy hour and took over the limited sun loungers. Kids jumped off the edge and kicked a ball around. It seemed everyone knew the staff by name, and this was apparently familiar and acceptable to them. That public access felt entirely wrong for a hotel.

The rooms cost a lot for what they provide: no toiletries, free water or glasses for brushing teeth. My mother was repeatedly questioned by the rude woman at reception after we asked for an extra bed. She kept saying in an unfriendly way that it wasn't in the booking and she hadn't been told. She also said no to all our small requests, without apologizing or trying to find another option, including putting our drinks in the hotel fridge to cool for a bit. We felt unwelcome, and it ruined my family's mood that day. Very disappointing at Hotel Santanyí Port.

Feels more like a hostel with hotel prices, and I definitely won’t stay again. There are no facilities in the room to make coffee. I went down in the morning and was told I couldn't get or buy one unless I paid for the whole breakfast, though I was able to buy coffee the day before. Clown town. If you want privacy, don't book a room by the pool. The restaurant is underneath and open until nearly midnight, so people can see into your room. A staff member even shouted up to my balcony asking me to come down for happy hour, which felt rude and intrusive while I was trying to relax. They say the aircon is set at 17 degrees for the whole hotel, but it doesn't work. Very uncomfortable in July and August. Not worth the money.
