The snorkeling trips were a real highlight for us. We saw dolphins, and the reefs were healthy, the water clear, and the marine life plentiful. We’ve done a lot of diving, and this was some of the best snorkeling we’ve had. Golden Point Resort is lovely and quiet, with beautiful views and a private beach that comes alive at high tide. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking there, or just taking in the scenery. It’s a peaceful escape from the busy Nadi resorts, with a relaxed atmosphere and no crowds or noise. The staff made us feel welcome and cared for without hovering. The beds could be more comfortable, but they were fine for the price and didn’t spoil our stay. I’d recommend it for anyone wanting to unwind, whether for a romantic break or a quiet getaway.

Please don’t stay here. We booked five nights through Booking, and by the time we realised how bad things felt, it was too late to go elsewhere because the booking wasn’t refundable. Some staff were lovely and did make parts of the stay more enjoyable, but we were nervous about speaking up in case the owner shouted at us or kicked us out. The rooms were clean and basically okay, but the place looked much better in the photos than it did in person. The owner made us feel watched. We also felt uncomfortable around her family, who treated the resort like their living room. Her father stared at us, criticized our political views, and smoked a cigar in the kitchen while food was being prepared. Drunk guests behaved disrespectfully and inappropriately toward us, and the owner didn’t stop them. We saw her shout at staff in front of customers, too, which was upsetting. There isn’t much nearby. The shopping centre shown on Maps wasn’t there, and the resort was our only place to get food or water. A bottle of water cost $8, and after five days we felt dehydrated. We tried most of the menu, but nothing seemed worth the price. The fries weren’t good and the portions were very small compared with other places we ate. The laundry came back in a bin bag, damp, unfolded, and smelling like an old cupboard. Some items were dirtier than before, and our clothes were returned in bits and late. They did reduce the bill after we complained, but we expected clean, dry laundry for what they charged. The pool was tiny and green, and I don’t know if it was ever cleaned. Very little about the place felt like a resort, apart from the high food prices, and not the quality. When we mentioned Golden Point Resort to staff from previous accommodation and to locals, they went quiet. Now I understand why we got the impression it had a bad reputation on the island. I expect the owner may say this is all lies, but this was our experience.

The snorkeling trip was breathtaking, and the food was 10/10. The staff were fantastic and nothing seemed like a problem. There’s no wifi at the resort, but we were fine with that. The bed was very firm, though they brought a topper when we asked. Thanks to bill and captain too. We’ll be back.

The management made us feel terrified, and men harassing us was one of several things that made the stay uncomfortable. The owner didn’t stop guests from bothering us, and we saw her yelling at staff often. They were very sweet, and we felt bad for them. It seemed to us that she was cutting costs wherever she could while keeping prices high. There’s almost nothing nearby, including nowhere to buy water except the resort, where a litre cost $8. We felt there was little to do besides pay for activities and eat there. The meals were mediocre for the prices. I had an upset stomach throughout the stay, especially after the seafood, which they said was fresh but tasted worse than frozen fish sticks to me. Extras like more sauce or changes cost extra, and a normal-sized meal was at least $25 FJD. Most meals were $35-60, which felt very expensive for the quality and for Fiji. The rooms were okay, but the shower was old and sprayed in every direction, and the sheets were stained. The pool stayed green during our several-day visit, despite a cleaning-in-progress sign. The wifi stopped working and, although they tried to fix it, it was down for the rest of our stay. The whole place felt strange and unsettling, with prices that didn’t match what we got.

A pleasant place to stay or stop over. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was good quality, at hotel standards and hotel prices.
