Auberge de Jeunesse HI Amiens

I was here on a school trip, and the rooms were a bit disappointing. Some of the bedroom wall had chipped off, and there were stains on the bathroom walls and in the sink. The food was alright, though breakfast was great. If you’re staying in Amiens, you’d probably want to pay extra for a proper Hotel instead of a Hostel, unless you need somewhere cheap.

The food was cold most nights or came out soggy or undercooked, so nobody was eating it and we ended up going to McDonald's. The room wasn't clean either: stains on the bed, hair in the shower, and very creaky floors. The beds felt hard as bricks. For what I paid, this wasn't worth it. I wouldn't stay again or recommend it. One star feels right.

There’s plenty to do here, including billiards and fussball, and I enjoyed my stay. The building is beautiful and the food was amazing. Try the peach cream dessert topped with a strawberry, it’s very creamy. The room was huge but pretty bare, and the wardrobe had a few dents and scratches. The bathroom door also felt very revealing.

The main thing I missed was a locker I could secure with a padlock. That matters when you're sharing a dorm with strangers. Otherwise, this was a well-organised hostel with professional staff and very clean facilities. Our three-bed dorm had separate beds rather than bunks, with good space between them and enough surfaces and wardrobe room for our things. The ensuite was good, the shower was hot, and there were more sinks and toilets downstairs. Breakfast was fantastic. Saint Roch train station is a short walk away.
