Ace Hôtel Bourges

The location is handy for the motorway, though there isn't much to do on the industrial estate. The family room was spacious, and the beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower pressure was good, but it badly needs updating. Service was friendly. It's a tired-looking place, but fine for a one-night stop.

We found a few restaurants nearby for dinner, and getting back onto the motorway was easy. The room was nice, breakfast was good, and the welcome at reception was lovely. They kindly topped up our baby's bottle with milk twice. A great stopover.

For the price we paid, it was satisfactory, and there are restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast was basic, adequate, and okay in quality. We were told dogs couldn't come into the dining room, so my partner and I took turns eating, though we'd wanted breakfast together. Then we arrived to find a dog in the room, sitting on a chair at a table. The hotel is clean and functional, with no frills, and its position just off the A71 is handy for an overnight stop. We paid only €30 more for B&B at a nearby hotel before, and its facilities and food were far better, so I guess you get what you pay for.

There are a couple of good restaurants nearby, and breakfast is available, though the hotel doesn't serve dinner. Reception was very brusque. It's on a business park with a huge distribution centre behind it, and the trailers were being moved all night, with trucks beeping as they reversed. Our room was right beside that noise. There are rooms facing the front that might be better, and since the hotel was far from full, I don't know why we weren't put in one of those.
