The room itself was okay, but the overall experience was very negative. The reception area was extremely dirty, with empty boxes and unwanted things that looked as if they had been brought over from the owners’ main house instead of being put in storage. The host came across as rude and unwelcoming, as though letting us stay was a favour. She didn’t even say hello in the morning and just walked around ignoring us. Wouldn’t recommend it.

The rooms were clean, and breakfast was a nice continental spread. Parking is free, though there isn’t much of it. The welcome was warm, and the themed rooms have very eccentric decor. It works well for a stopover or a longer stay, and I’d come back.

It sounds lovely from the room description, but that impression faded quickly. When we arrived, there was no sign showing where the cottage was. Inside, I just wanted to leave. The bathroom ceiling was coming down, and its window looked over an unkempt garden with no curtains. The outlets stuck out of the wall, the floor was uneven, and the bed wasn’t very comfortable, though that part is subjective. A shame, because the place clearly needs proper upkeep and renovation.
