I spent nine months here during my Erasmus in Nantes. Jérôme and Isabelle are helpful and take good care of the building. The apartments match their descriptions, and the area is good and generally feels safe. Lidl, a small Carrefour and Monoprix are all within walking distance. The apartments seemed a little pricey for their size compared with other options nearby. Also, keep in mind that you’re expected to clean the apartment when you arrive and again before leaving.

When I arrived, the apartment was so dirty that I spent a whole day cleaning it. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable, and generally better than rooms in other residences, but the state I found it in was awful. The managers seemed very unprofessional and were hardly ever there. I had arranged a final room inspection for the day before leaving, but it was a national holiday and the manager wasn’t in. Isabelle was there the next day, unaware she was meant to check me out, so everything had to be rushed. During the visit, she said the room needed more cleaning or they’d take the cost from my deposit. I said nobody had told me I needed to deep-clean, and I’d done as much as I could with my flight only a few hours away. They charged me for cleaning anyway, and Isabelle asked me to clean things like the windows, which were already dirty when I moved in. She also wanted me to get rid of things that had been there when I arrived, including brooms and cleaning equipment. I reminded her that she had checked me in on my first day at mer et golf and had seen what was there. She said it couldn’t have been that messy because she does the cleaning every time, which seemed unlikely given the condition I found the room in. For future renters, take photos of everything as soon as you arrive. Write down anything dirty on the inventory sheet and ask them to clean it again, or they may try to charge you for it when you leave. Arrange your checkout well in advance and clean thoroughly.
The apartment has most of the basic things a student needs, it’s near a Carrefour, within walking distance of tram lines 1, 2 and 3, and there are lots of other students around if you want to make friends. The neighborhood generally feels safe. Still, the problems outweighed those positives for me. I lived here for seven months in my first year at university. My room was under a bar in the building, and the noise on weekends was troubling. Nobody warned me about it beforehand. The room was also very dirty and dusty when I got it, and my parents and I spent a whole day cleaning before it was livable. There was an unknown stain on the mattress, and the accommodation wouldn’t replace it. Reception was hard to reach and often seemed closed, even during its stated hours. When I moved out, I didn’t know I had to clean the apartment thoroughly because the landowners hadn’t explained that. I ended up paying 300 euros for cleaning. As an international student, I wasn’t sure if that was standard, so I paid, but grudgingly.
The people living in the residence were lovely, and since they came from different universities and countries, it was easy to make friends. The team was just as welcoming. Jérôme and Isabelle were always there when I needed something and clearly tried hard to make sure everyone had a good stay. I lived at Appart-Hôtel Mer & Golf City Île de Nantes from September 2022 to December 2023, and my experience was positive throughout. The location is excellent. Supermarkets are less than a 10-minute walk away, and pharmacies, bars and restaurants are nearby too. The city centre is an easy 15-minute walk. The area feels safe, and the bus is practically on the doorstep. Île de Nantes itself is lovely, with inviting spots for evening walks and drinks. I’d recommend Appart-Hôtel Mer & Golf City Île de Nantes to anyone coming to Nantes for a good stay.
I lived in the residence for 10 months as an Erasmus student in Nantes and had a really good time. The rooms were tidy, and it was easy to get to the city centre. There are also bars and other nice places to hang out just a few minutes away on the island. Mostly young people live there, and I got to know some of them, which I liked. The managers were friendly. Mr Colli speaks English well and helped a lot when I broke something in my room, including arranging the repair and sorting out the insurance paperwork. I’d read comments saying they were strict about the deposit and the room at move-out. I got my deposit back after a month and wasn’t charged an extra fee. I cleaned my room before leaving and didn’t leave it dirty. My friends in the residence had no issues with this either. I’d definitely recommend living there. Thanks for a great stay!
