Hotel Rossetti

Wi-Fi was our only real issue. I kept getting kicked off in under five minutes, and my husband couldn’t connect at all. It’s a lovely place in the heart of Old Town Nice, and the location made it easy to come back throughout the day whenever we needed to. It seems like a small operation run by an owner who cares. Read the emailed directions carefully: the entrance is an arch with a small sign.

Tucked into the lovely little streets of the old town, this place is beautiful. It was clean, quiet, and cute, and we really like small, personal hotels. The receptionist went out of her way to help. I’d recommend staying here.

The setting made this stay one of my favorites in Europe. Right in the middle of Old Town Nice, it’s close to transport and some of the city’s best restaurants. Hobo Cafe is right next door for coffee and breakfast, since the hotel doesn’t serve breakfast. There’s also tea and coffee in a shared space. Our room was spacious, simply but thoughtfully decorated, and comfortable for several days. The staff were friendly when we arrived, and the price was very reasonable.

We were on the top floor and had a great room, with a very comfortable bed and sofa and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The reception staff were really friendly, and let us leave our bags when we arrived early in the morning. The entrance is a blueish door next to the ice cream shop, easy to miss if you blink. You’re right in the old town beside the church, so there can be noise at night. It didn’t bother us, but light sleepers might have trouble. The stairs could also be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There’s coffee making equipment on the first floor and a patio where you can sit in the morning or evening. A fantastic bakery is about a five-minute walk away for early pastries, or Hobo coffee opens at 9am. The waterfront is five minutes away, as are the tram lines. From the airport, the tram to Garibaldi square takes you close to the hotel in under 30 minutes for €1.70 per person, compared with a €40 taxi. Lots of restaurants and bars are nearby. Some close from November through the end of March, but there’s still plenty of choice. Line 1 takes about 10 minutes to reach the train station, opening up the coast, including Cannes, Merton, or Monte Carlo within an hour. The bus is a cheaper option.
