Hôtel des Grandes Ecoles

Our top floor room was so quiet we never heard another guest, and the location was close to lots of good restaurants. The courtyard entrance is lovely, with big locking doors, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. They contacted us before the trip to ask how we'd like the beds set up, which made it feel personal. The narrow winding stairs and lack of an elevator made carrying luggage up and down a challenge, though the staff offered to help. It was very cold in the room, especially in the unheated bathroom, so we had to wear socks on the tile. Even so, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Breakfast was delicious every morning, and they had a gluten-free option too. The garden looks lovely for warmer weather, and the room was nice, if a little old fashioned. It's a friendly, family style hotel with really kind staff. Bus and metro connections are good, so you can avoid a taxi if you don't mind a short walk from the station. The staff were the best part for me. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and I enjoyed staying here while visiting family in Paris. It's a charming, classic Left Bank townhouse, with soft pastel colors and a cobblestone courtyard. There aren't the amenities you'd get in a big modern hotel, but that suited me just fine; I didn't feel anything was missing. The area is central and easy to explore on foot. Notre Dame is about a 15-minute walk away, and many other major sights are roughly 20 minutes by metro. There are cafés and restaurants just steps away. A lovely place with plenty of character and comfort. I'd absolutely stay here again.

We had such a lovely honeymoon here. The beds were really comfy, the sheets soft, and we slept well every night. Our rooms are tucked around a garden terrace with a sweet little view. It's peaceful at night, but there are still plenty of places nearby to go out and enjoy. The staff were lovely, especially Chloe, who made Gideon and me feel welcome. We were sad to leave and will pick Hotel Des Grandes Escoles again next time we're in Paris. I only wish I'd seen more of the fluffy resident cat. It was cold and rainy, so I think she didn't want to go outside ☺️🥲
