Hotel des Andelys

Everyone there was so nice, and they helped me switch rooms. The room condition was worth the price, and I enjoyed chatting with the people there.

The beds were comfortable and we had clean towels and two bars of soap. The staff were really friendly, and they kept our bags after checkout. The hotel is just five minutes from Metro line 3, which was very handy. There were some good points, but I wouldn’t stay again. The bathroom was moldy, and the room was still kind of dirty after cleaning, with permanent stains on the floor and some hairs. The Wi-Fi wasn’t very good either. When we arrived early, nobody was at reception for about 20 minutes, which was disappointing, though they did let me put my bags in the room before it had been cleaned. It did the job for a shower and a night’s sleep, but it felt more like a shady hostel than a hotel. I’m not sure I’d recommend it to my backpacking buddies. Once was enough.

It’s worth the price, though it’s definitely not a five-star hotel. The room and bathroom were clean, and the service was good. The lock was a little worn. Since I had a night train after checking out at noon, the owner offered to hold my luggage so I could visit Paris without it.

The website photos were completely misleading. We struggled up a small spiral staircase with our luggage, then found a cold first room with a windowless bathroom. The TV was mounted on the wall with a broken remote, and instead of regular pillows there were two old sofa cushions on the bed. It smelled bad, so we asked to move. The second room also had a bathroom with no window. Its TV was hanging on just one nail, there was no remote, and the lighting was a little neon. The Wi-Fi kept cutting out. We managed because we only used the place to shower and sleep, but it was a big, horrible no!
