Hôtel Gustave

The rooms are very clean, though small, and the showers had great pressure and temperature. All three hotel staff we met were so kind and hospitable. Thanks for making our stay such a good one!

The place has loads of character and a real Parisian feel, and the location is perfect. The lobby and room were spotless, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I didn’t feel like part of mass tourism the way I do at a chain hotel. The Eiffel Tower is about a 15-minute walk away, just around the corner. It exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.

The location was a plus, close to the metro and lots of shops, and the breakfast was decent enough to get the day started, though nothing special. My girlfriend and I stayed for one day. The room wasn’t terrible, just very small, and the view wasn’t as good as we’d hoped. What bothered us most was being charged three times: most of the cost when booking, the remaining room balance on arrival, then another $50 deposit right after that. The second payment was around $60 here, rather than the more usual $20 or $30. I ended up paying over $300 for one night, which felt ridiculously high, especially when the listing first showed something like $90 or $100 per night. Those extra fees pushed the total to more than three times that. I don’t know if that’s specific to hotel Gustave or common in Paris, but it wasn’t like this at other hotels in Europe. Recently, in another city, I paid about the same for three days as I paid here for one night. That other hotel wasn’t a major drop in quality either, it was actually much better and offered more. Hotel Gustav wasn’t awful, but it was disappointing and not that great.

The service was the best part, with staff who were genuinely friendly and helpful. When we extended our stay, they found us a nearby booking and also managed to get us another night in their own hotel. The room and bathroom were a wonderful size for Paris. There’s easy access to transport, and the area feels lovely and local, close to the Eiffel Tower. A delightful surprise in a great part of Paris.
