Le Faubourg Hotel

The low price didn’t make up for the terrible sanitary conditions. There were bed bugs, a leaking ceiling, stains, mold, exposed wires, and no security at all. Don’t stay here. Pay a little more for somewhere safe.

I took photos and videos of everything before leaving, then went straight to a local laundromat to wash and dry all my clothes. I got no sleep. I’d booked three nights at the last minute because I had little time to research, but I barely made it through one. There were bed bugs in the sheets, water came through the roof onto the bed and floor, and there was moldy residue that looked like it had been there a long time. The hair dryer had live exposed wiring, and I got a minor burn. I could have been killed by it. When I told the front desk, they seemed shockingly indifferent, as if this happened every day. They refused a refund and offered only a room at their neighboring hotel. I turned that down. Please listen to the negative reviews and trust your gut. It’s a cheap hotel, but if you can’t live with bed bugs, mold, and a leaking roof, you won’t sleep. Saving a few bucks isn’t worth fighting the front desk and credit card company or pursuing legal action. I don’t trust the positive reviews either, whether they’re old, paid, fake, or just from people with extremely low standards.

It was okay, I guess. We didn’t find bed bugs like some other reviewers said, but the hotel and rooms did feel a bit gloomy. It’s cheap for this location, so keep your expectations in check.

The location worked really well. The metro is nearby, though we walked to most places, including Moulin Rouge and Gare du Nord in about 20 minutes and Les Halles in around 25. We had a family room on the second floor, with comfortable beds and a nicely sized bathroom. Breakfast was a good start to the day. It was very hot and there was no air conditioning, but reception gave us a fan when we asked, and that made a big difference. A good budget hotel.
