Mercure Paris Opera Lafayette

After two miserable nights, we left early because staying another night just wasn't acceptable. We'd booked and paid for a triple room, but instead of three proper beds, there was a terrible pull-out sofa with no real mattress, only metal bars and springs. My daughter couldn't sleep on it. The rooms were tiny and uncomfortable, and the online photos were totally misleading. When we asked for help, the staff ignored us completely. The whole stay was a huge disappointment, and I'd never recommend this hotel. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else.

The front desk staff were friendly, and the location was good. But the room was small and generic, with little charm for a four-star hotel, and it was missing toiletries. Housekeeping didn't seem well trained. It's okay for a business trip of a night or two.

The breakfast was generous and the staff were friendly, but the room felt like a box and cost my business over 200 euros a night. There was only a quilt, no sheet, so I had to run the air conditioning overnight. The bathroom was tiny, and I ended up buying a 35-euro pillow because the hotel pillows felt like cardboard. Come on, Mercure, the bedding needs an upgrade.

The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds were comfortable. The hotel itself is small, but beautiful, and the staff were very helpful. Theo was especially kind and helped us with everything. The location felt pretty average, though it’s close to a Metro station. There wasn’t much of a view from the window, and there was a homeless person outside, but I didn’t think much of it.
