Hotel Square

We had a lovely weekend here. The bed was really comfortable, the room had good amenities, and the staff were so friendly. They kindly upgraded us, and when we left something behind, everyone was very cooperative. Thanks, Square :) We’ll make this our regular place to stay when we visit Paris.

I planned this stay for my girlfriend’s birthday and was really let down by the service. When booking, I added an airport transfer and spa visit. No one met us at the airport, and when we called, we were told the transfer service wasn’t available, so we had to find an Uber at the last minute. At the hotel, a staff member said it was impossible that I’d booked the spa and that there was no availability for either of us. That had already spoiled the surprise, but I still hoped things would go better. Before we went out, I asked the staff to arrange champagne and roses for her to find when we returned. Neither was there, and after I asked again we waited more than an hour for them. The price felt much too high for the rooms and services. I’ve stayed at many five-star hotels, and this one doesn’t deserve that rating. I wouldn’t recommend it. I’d call it four stars at best, and the service quality was poor enough to ruin the plans I’d made.

We stayed for five nights and everything was just as we’d expected. The staff were always helpful, and whenever we needed anything they made sure we were comfortable. We didn’t run into any problems. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in Paris.

The rooms are quite nice, but the service doesn’t come close to five-star. When I checked in, reception was empty and I waited ten minutes for someone to appear. Then, after dinner around 23:00, I found the hotel doors locked. I stood in the freezing cold for another ten minutes before anyone came to let me in, right under that proud five-star sign. You can’t even unlock the main entrance with your room key. Maybe that’s acceptable at a youth hostel, but not at these prices or for a five-star hotel. What a pity.
