Tonic Hotel Saint Germain

I was there in January 2000, 26 years ago. France had been hit by a hurricane in late December, and we hadn’t been able to make reservations. We asked someone passing by, who suggested we try the Tonic. They had rooms, and we had a wonderful stay until it was time to head back to the states. Very grateful to the wonderful hosts!

We planned to stay one night before going to Versaille, but the hotel couldn’t find our reservation, even though we had the confirmation email. They were fully booked, so we had to hurry and find another hotel. Not ideal.

The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, and the location is one of the best in Paris. The staff were nice, everything was clean, and the AC was quiet. I’m usually pretty picky about hotels, but I thought this one was really cute and loved my stay while I was there for business. I’ll come back! 🌟 And, surprise, Americans, the TV in France is French.

We were locked inside the hotel once with no way out, a death trap if there were a fire. When we tried to open the door, the receptionist shouted at us. That alone made for an awful stay. We were put in Room 1, at street level beside reception, and could hear every sniffle from the night receptionist. The bathroom’s sliding glass doors let you see your partner using the shower or toilet. The room was hot, but the air conditioning was locked to a setting that was unbearably cold, so we could only use it in short bursts. Security bars were on the window, but the noise meant we couldn’t open it. I can’t recommend this hotel.
