Le Petit Brooklyne

The art deco setting is gorgeous, and we really enjoyed our time here. The cocktail was beautifully presented and expertly made, and every side, starter, and dessert was fantastic. The steak was exceptional, one of the best five we’ve had, if not the best. I’d been desperate to bring my partner to Beefbar ever since visiting the Paris location in 2020, and Strasbourg didn’t disappoint. From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly, enthusiastic about the food, and great fun to talk with. The service was knowledgeable, too. We look forward to coming back.

The kitchen was doing outstanding work, which made the front-of-house service even harder to understand. Dinner took nearly two hours, and one of the two tables in front of us stayed dirty and unattended the whole time. We waited 35 minutes just to be asked about drinks, never got water despite asking twice, and had to request the check three times from the same server. We also weren’t given all the menus. During the wait, servers seemed to be standing around chatting or stepping outside. I worry the restaurant is understaffed, and if I were the chef, I’d have a lot to discuss with the front of the house. The food, though, was one of the best meals I’ve had in months. The beef carpaccio had a distinctive mix of flavors and additions. The steak frites was tasty and cooked well, and I’d choose the pepper sauce over the signature Beef Bar sauce. The New York style veal milanese was like a perfect veal parmesan. Everything we ate was exceptional. It’s a strange gap between the unimpressive service and the kitchen, especially for a franchise established around the world. Maybe this is just this Beef Bar, maybe they’re all like it.

Loved the food and the atmosphere, and those Parmesan truffle fries were amazing. We were told fries or mash came with the entree, but when we upgraded to truffle fries and lemon lime mash, they added both to our order instead of charging just the difference. We ended up with a lot of extra food, haha, but it was so good we weren’t complaining. Will definitely come back.

A bit of a walk from what I’d call the town centre, but still worth heading out for. We had such a lovely final meal of the trip: the steak was tender and cooked just right, and the lasagne really impressed me.
