That underground spa has a dark, unusual, almost Batman-like feel, and it really adds to the stay. Hotel Les Haras also has a Michelin-starred restaurant, and the setting is peaceful despite being only a five-minute walk from the main square. Our room was lovely, with a beautiful terrace looking over the courtyard. It was on the small side, though the balcony more than made up for that. We had a fantastic time at Hotel Les Haras in Strasbourg, and I'd highly recommend it if you're after somewhere special and well located.

I loved the spa, especially the cold plunge and big pool, and the brasserie is well worth a visit. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms and decor were tastefully put together with loads of attention to detail. The hotel is gorgeous, quiet, and luxurious. Staff were friendly, efficient, and multilingual. I'd love to come back next year.

The people working here were lovely throughout, from housekeeping to the breakfast team, and the rooms were clean, modern, quiet, and nicely designed. Our shower was a little unusual, but the room was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with good quality, plenty of choice, and a well-organised setup. The spa was the main letdown. We were told at check-in that each room gets just one hour a day, in a booked slot, but that restriction wasn't shown in our Booking.com reservation. We missed it on the first day, so they let us have two hours the next day. Even then, it felt packed. There is one sauna, one steam room, one pool, and one relaxation room. Most of its loungers were occupied or had towels left on them to “reserve” them, even when no one was there, so it wasn't relaxing. We had booked Les Haras because it was presented as one of Strasbourg's best hotels, expecting a pampering weekend with a lovely spa and good facilities. The welcome wasn't a great start: reception is surprisingly small for a hotel this size, crowded and chaotic when we arrived. We got our keys without clear directions, and only found out later that a bellboy could help with luggage. Our rooms were in the newer annex across the street, so getting there meant leaving the property, crossing the road, and entering another building. The spa and breakfast are in that annex, which is a plus. We couldn't get a table at the hotel restaurant at any point, as it was always fully booked. It seemed outside guests or limited capacity meant hotel guests didn't get priority. We ate elsewhere, which was fine, but still disappointing given the hotel's reputation. The layout caused another awkward moment: after the spa I mistakenly ended up in the main building, then had to walk along the street in my bathrobe to get back to our annex. It's funny now, but it wasn't ideal at the time. There are real positives here, but the price and reputation set expectations the stay didn't meet. The restricted, crowded spa, hectic little reception, and building arrangement took away from the easy, relaxing weekend we wanted.

The service from all the employees made a one-night visit feel like more time in Strasbourg. They helped us make the most of our stay, and the hotel's special vibe was lovely too. We came in winter, and it didn't disappoint.

You can easily see the old town on foot from here, and the hotel itself is an impressive sight. It's modern, spacious, and quiet, with very friendly service throughout. They take care of the car, though you won't need it for a great weekend in Strassbourgh. Perfect from beginning to end.
