Cults Hotel

The food was delicious, and on that alone we'd come back. But by the time it arrived, we'd been waiting so long that we were starving and everyone ate in silence instead of enjoying it properly. Our waiter had forgotten to put in the order. We only found out after nearly an hour, when we asked how much longer it would take. They apologised and offered us a complimentary round of drinks, but it was disappointing that nobody had noticed we'd been sitting without food. It put a damper on the birthday celebrations. We also asked for bread while waiting, close to 9pm, and were brought sliced bread, which seemed a strange choice.

The staff were super friendly, which was the best part of our stay. But after 15 days into a motorcycle holiday, this hotel was a disappointment. The whole building had a strong, musty smell, and debris from the ceiling skylight above the bathroom sink kept landing in it. The rugs looked dirty, and my girlfriend didn't feel comfortable using the shower. Dinner was fair. The repairs may have been minor, but along with the smell they made a big difference. We wouldn't stay again.

The restaurant was the highlight, especially the exceptional roast lamb, and the complimentary breakfasts were top class. Everyone on staff was exceptionally friendly too. Our room was spacious, clean and nice, with good amenities. We had an amazing stay and will make the nine-hour drive again to come back.

A pleasant atmosphere in both the bar and conservatory, where you can dine. The menu is varied and very good, and the staff are excellent. It's a great place for lunch or dinner, handy for shopping in Cults and close to Aberdeen.
