We ended up booking Black Oceans Hotel because it was the only apartment free that night, and the mostly negative reviews had us worried. Once I arrived, the entry pin and flat code came through WhatsApp. Hudson Suite Number 8 was immaculate, with WiFi, a fridge and kettle, and £56 for the night felt like a great deal. There’s a £100 deposit, which is meant to be returned after a week. I’d definitely stay again.

The shower was filthy, with hair, mould and dirt around the taps. We’d dropped our bags off at 3pm after chasing for the access code, then had to go straight out without looking around. When we got back at 10pm and saw the bathroom, we checked the rest of the apartment and left. We drove three hours home because we couldn’t stay there. And a £100 damage deposit on top of that is a joke.

We booked four rooms, but one was unusable because the door came off its frame when we opened it, and we weren’t refunded for that room. There were stains all over the sofa and mould in the bathrooms. We paid the £100 deposit and still haven’t got it back. I called the owners several times; each time they said they’d get back to us, but we’ve heard nothing. Absolutely filthy. Don’t stay here.

Everything was clean and warm, with what we needed for one night, and it was good value. It can get a bit noisy because it’s right by Central Pier and the arcades. There’s a car park nearby.

Clean and nice for our three night stay. Close to Coral Island, with heat for the kids. No complaints.
