The Lawton

The rooms are pretty tired, but for the price they were okay for one night. Breakfast was hot and really nice. The staff were lovely, especially the receptionist, who was very helpful.

The rooms were clean but could do with updating. Staff were fantastic and very welcoming, and there was a great breakfast selection, with the option to double up for a few pounds extra. There’s a lift, which was handy, and the location was good. My only concern was that there wasn’t a non-slip mat in the shower. I’d definitely return.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lawton and have already booked again for next year. It was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was well organised. One of the bar stewards was rather blunt when telling us about the time limit for drinking outside, which we hadn’t known about. Apart from that, we had a pleasant time. Breakfast is all they serve at the Lawton, but there are plenty of other choices nearby.

The breakfast was a 9 out of 10, with linen-covered tables, lovely staff and food cooked really well. My room was spotless and the bed comfortable, and there were no unwanted bed bug guests. Check-in was welcoming, with reception staff greeting me, helping me park at the back and showing me in. When I left, they led me out through a rear exit straight to my car. The bar by reception felt a bit depressing, and the prices weren’t cheap. I got a double room for the price of a single by phoning the hotel directly for the best available price, though that presumably depends on how busy they are. Would I go again? Definitely.
