Wallace Hotel

The two dogs were very friendly and great with children. My boys loved them. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and the owner made us feel very welcome. There was no curfew, so we could come and go as we pleased. We stayed three nights and would definitely return 😊

I can barely give this place one star. It claims to have been recently refurbished, but I can't see where. The place was monumentally dirty. Black mould surrounded the windows, the basin plug was ingrained with dirt, and there was grime on the splashback. Black fluff and dirt covered the skirting boards and dado rails. The mattress sheet had two brown stains and smelled damp, and the shower and toilet were just as bad. A basic clean with soap, bleach, and water would have made a difference. The mismatched decor didn't bother me; the lack of cleanliness did. It wasn't worth the £50.

The owners were extremely rude, and the customer service was disgusting. While we were out, they entered our room and took photos. After we'd packed and left, they posted the pictures on Facebook and claimed that's how we had left the room, even though there was luggage visible in the photos, showing they were taken before we packed. The woman was verbally abusive both online and to us directly. Don't waste your money.

We had a family room, and the kids especially liked the bunk beds. It was really clean, and the owner made us feel welcome. The hotel is right on the beachfront, a short walk from Central Pier, with a tram stop outside for getting to South Pier. We hope to return for a longer stay. Keep up the great work.
