Europa Gatwick Hotel

I'm still at the hotel and usually wouldn't leave a negative review during a stay, but this is an exception. easyJet cancelled my flight and provided a night here. The hotel isn't reachable by bus or train, so getting there meant taking an Uber. At first, staff kept me waiting 30 minutes while they tried to sort out the booking with easyJet. I came back another 30 minutes later and it still wasn't resolved. My room is next to a fire door that bangs against the wall whenever someone opens it, about every 10 minutes at 10pm. The bed rattles when I sit on it, and there are no outlets by the bed, so no doomscrolling at 3am, I guess. The shower room floor is uneven, the shower handle doesn't fit its fixing properly, and one bedside light is out. The walls are so thin I can hear the new guests in the next room, Spanish, I think, and I might even guess their accent. Maybe Mexican?

The pool was great, a nice temperature, with a hot tub, and I highly recommend it. You do have to pay separately since it isn't included with the room. Service was generally great, though a few small improvements could be made. The location was fine but a little noisy. The room and bathroom weren't cleaned properly, but that didn't bother me much. The beds felt like they might have broken springs, though I wasn't too fussed.

We stayed three nights and, despite having some doubts after reading earlier reviews, found things good. The bathroom was spotless, the room was clean, the towels were soft and white, and the hostess tray was good. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and the dinner was quite good. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and drinks were very reasonably priced. We'd be happy to stay again.

I've been a regular since 2016, and after my son passed away, this hotel became a getaway for me. I would love to come back, but the last two visits were a disaster. On one, the power went out in the rooms, leaving only the landings lit, and I couldn't eat my food. On another, a van was parked right outside across the doors, blocking my room, so I couldn't get out during the night. I'm disabled, which made that very inconvenient. The sauna was also out of use. I have photos of what happened and emailed on 25th March 2026. I'm waiting for a reply. Thanks.
