We came across this pub while we were in the area, and it's definitely going to be a new favourite. The inside has a lovely cosy feel, and there's a good selection on the menu at standard pub prices, not too expensive. The food was delicious. I especially liked the kids' menu, with more variety than the usual chicken nuggets and chips. My daughter demolished her lasagne! It was quite busy on Sunday and most tables were booked, but we found a lovely table in the bar area. I'd recommend booking if you're coming at the weekend with a bigger group.

At the Great Northern in Mickleover, we had steaks followed by ice cream for dessert. Everything tasted great and was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Lovely meal, and we'll definitely be back!

The food was excellent, but the service really let it down. We had to ask for a dessert menu, then waited another 20 minutes with no one coming to take our order. We paid and left. It wasn't busy, and all three staff had time to chat at the bar. Nobody apologised. We visited on the evening of 6th November 2025. Five stars for the food, one for the service.

We booked the function room for a birthday party. It's a lovely room, the food was decent, and the bar service was good. Parking was a bit limited for the number of guests, since pub customers use the same lot.

I stopped in for lunch and had an excellent sharing platter. The barman, who may have been the manager, gave us a great welcome, and service was quick too. Highly recommended.
