The bed was clean, fresh, and comfortable, and the staff were nice enough. Breakfast in the restaurant was okay too. The room itself felt a bit tired. A curtain rail fell on my partner, and some of the plug sockets didn’t work. There was also a slightly fusty smell in the hallway.

The traffic noise was heavy, which is to be expected on a busy road in the city centre, but worth knowing if noise bothers you. Staff were friendly and helpful, though I’m less sure about the management. At 4 am the fire alarm woke us. There was no fire escape signage from the top floor, and the night manager had only some sheets of paper, no clipboard or light. It was raining, and trying to take names and find them on wet paper didn’t work well. We weren’t offered a refund for being disturbed overnight. The room was dusty, the bed looked as if it had been made from the doorway, and there was mould in the bathroom. There was feces around the toilet rim, and the hand soap by the sink was just water. When we mentioned the soap, someone was sent straight away to refill it. There’s no hotel parking, just a pay car park that costs a little over £1 overnight, but you have to move the car at 8 the next morning. We stayed two nights and found a cheap 24 hour car park five minutes away.

I’ve stayed here a few times over the summer, and each room was pretty much the same. At first glance this one looked okay, but there was serious mould: all over the bathroom ceiling and window sill, and around the bath. The toilet also kept running all night and kept me awake. Disappointing.

I stay here for work every week. The staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for you. Cheryl is amazing. Highly recommend.
