The restaurant is a real highlight, with a very high standard, a good selection of dishes and a nice wine list. Staff are generally cheerful and helpful. The room was very comfortable, though there were a couple of maintenance issues that need attention. Good value overall, and I'm happy to come back soon. Another nice stay.

We had a look around the public rooms after lunch and really liked the little rooms for relaxing. There were four of us, visiting for the first time, and we all enjoyed our meal. The lunch room was comfortable, with tables spaced nicely apart, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The menu had a wide choice and everyone liked what they ordered. Service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry, so it didn't bother us. We'll definitely be back and would recommend it.

The hotel is in a very quiet area, and I slept really well in the comfortable bed. I was here for two nights on a work trip for a business meeting in Dumfries, staying in a standard double room. It was spotless, modern and roomy enough both to work and relax. I ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, and both times the food was lovely and hot. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I'd happily stay again for work or bring my family for a leisure break.

The roasted pork belly was tender and well seasoned, and I really enjoyed it. The fish and chips were crunchy without being greasy. We came for dinner with a big group of friends, and the food was tasty with generous portions, enough room for me to manage three courses. The restaurant decor is sophisticated, the staff are friendly, and it's very child friendly.

The Scottish breakfast came with haggis, a nice touch, as it was the first time I'd had haggis at breakfast on my seven night tour of Scotland. Dinner was very good and came out quickly. The hotel has had a recent refit and looks amazing, clean and modern. I got a free room upgrade, so maybe that made me biased! The staff were friendly and helpful. The lounge was smart and comfy, with lots of nautical photos and a lovely open fireplace, though it wasn't lit during my visit. It was too cold to enjoy a beer on the wooden patio. My room was spacious, comfortable and smart, with plenty of lights and handy plug sockets. The bathroom was spacious, clean and new, and the shower was great, though there was no bath.
