Malmaison Edinburgh

Leith has plenty of lovely places to eat, and the tram into the city is just around the corner. It felt like a much better choice than the tourist-heavy part of town. We arrived in bad spirits after another Edinburgh hotel let us down: we’d paid for a superior room and got a broom closet. Here, receptionist Kite was gracious and lovely, and we were given a beautiful room at a very reasonable rate. The hotel was clean, friendly, and comfortable.

We slept so well in the excellent suite, especially after being offered a last-minute upgrade. The second bathtub in the living room was a real highlight. On arrival, the gentleman at reception greeted us so warmly. Breakfast was excellent and beautifully laid out, and the woman serving was friendly and warm. We tried the merguez shaksuka, which was delicious. It was our first stay at a Malmaison hotel, and we were both very impressed by how friendly and helpful the staff were.

Very good value for money, with a great location and welcoming, friendly staff. The rooms are perfectly adequate for a short stay. They’d be worth five stars once refurbished.

The reception team really made my recent Christmas stay in Scotland enjoyable, and I felt I had to mention their excellent service. At Malmaison, you can count on a lovely, tastefully appointed room in a good city location. When I arrived at 12:00 and asked to leave my luggage while I visited Edinburgh, they were able to check me in early because my room type was available, which I greatly appreciated. I was staying for only two evenings and offered to forgo room service. They gave me a free drinks token for the bar. On Christmas Day, they also kindly offered a complimentary mimosa after I’d had breakfast. When I checked out, I wanted to visit HMY Britannia, just a short walk away, and the reception staff arranged to keep my belongings while I went, even though I’d checked out. No request seemed too taxing, and they were always willing to help.
