The staff were friendly and genuinely tried to help, and the location is great. But after seven nights for a conference, I wouldn't stay here again. I was in a so-called “cosy double,” which was really just cramped and small. There was nowhere for my bag, no wardrobe, safe or other storage, just a few hooks by the door. When I asked to change rooms, I was told all the cosy doubles were the same. Sleep was the bigger problem. Every night around 3 or 4am, loud thuds and luggage being dragged up the stairs woke me, and it continued through the morning. I didn't get a full night's sleep once in seven nights. For a four-star hotel at that price, I expected more. It feels like you're paying mostly for the postcode. One of the most frustrating hotel stays I've had. If sleep matters to you, look elsewhere.

Our room was spacious and clean, with a great view and a bed and pillows that were so comfortable. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the shopping mall is only a few steps away. If you're driving, you can get discounted parking at the St. James Shopping Center. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely book again! 😊

The rooms were clean, nicely sized and had great facilities. There are good amenities, the staff were helpful, and the guest services book came in handy. The hotel is in a good spot, with everything not far away.

I went to a wine tasting at this lovely hotel on 20th November 2025 and asked if I could see a room. The interiors I saw were modern, spacious and good quality. Staff were polite and very friendly, and I loved the modern bar at the front. Compared with what many hotels in central Edinburgh charge, this one is very reasonable. It also has more character than many places I've stayed. I've recommended it to family and friends, and look forward to booking it for my children when they visit. Highly recommended.

The Raeburn Suite worked perfectly for the sportsman's speaking event we hosted. We connected our equipment to the AV and used the lighting in the space. Events Manager Emily Jackson and the staff were professional, helpful and very respectful. A first-class venue.
