The rooms are plain, but there’s plenty of space, and having a kitchen and lounge shared by just a few rooms was nice. It’s not the usual hostel setup with one big common area, so it’s quieter. The walls are thin, though, and doors slam loudly. Rooms can get hot on warm days. It’s a bit uphill and away from the main spots, but only a couple of blocks up and around a 10-20 minute walk to most things. Good value if you mainly need somewhere to sleep.

The room was okay, but the bathroom had no lights at all. The reception staff weren’t especially polite either. What bothered me most was the extra cost for everything: parking at the property costs more, even though the website doesn’t mention it, and parking on nearby streets is prohibited. Towels also aren’t included, and there’s a rental fee that the website doesn’t mention.

For the price, it compares well with other places in the city, and it’s about a 15-minute walk from the main downtown street. The Glasgow School of Art is nearby, though several streets are currently closed because of the fire. The bathroom could use some improvement.

It’s close to central Glasgow, and the staff were really friendly. The bathrooms were clean, the kitchens had plenty of supplies, and the internet was fast. Each room has one bed, which gave me more privacy and quiet than I’d expect in most hostels. The downside is that there isn’t a proper shared room, so it’s hard to meet people.

I slept well, and the shower was pleasant. The hostel is also in a good spot. But my first room hadn’t been cleaned at all, with rubbish and half-eaten food left inside. It was disgusting. The replacement room was adequate, though the place still had that untidy, student-hall atmosphere and smell, even during the holidays. It felt like going back 30 years. Staying at a Scottish Youth Hostel is usually a pleasure in itself, but this one wasn’t.
