We chose this B&B partly because it's only a five-minute walk from my mum's, but after staying in all the B&Bs in the area, I can say Onslow Drive is great. It's basic but clean, about a 20-minute walk to George Square, with buses and trains at the bottom of the hill. Breakfast was excellent. Thomas was approachable and did his best to send us off full before the day. Breakfast costs extra, but no more than you'd pay at a cafe. We've already booked for next year.

We paid £70 for a sleepless night and appalling service, and I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Guests were locked out of their rooms while their dogs were trapped inside barking continuously. There was no staff in the building, and we were told help would take two hours. Other guests tried to kick a door down to reach the dogs, and the whole place turned into shouting and frustration. People kept knocking on our door, Room 3 beside reception, asking us to sort it out even though we were guests too. I couldn't sleep. I was also alarmed that guests could get into rooms that weren't theirs with key cards kept behind the unattended reception desk. It left me with serious concerns about security. The next morning I raised this with Thomas at reception, who called the owner, Tony. Tony dismissed my complaints, called me names, and raised his voice, even though I stayed calm. He denied there had been no staff on site, despite us calling both the reception and mobile numbers and waiting with other guests for help. The guests who caused the disruption weren't charged for their room, yet I was refused a refund. I strongly advise against this B&B.

I really enjoyed the quiet neighbourhood, and the city centre was still only about a 10-minute walk away. For £40, I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Glasgow. I arrived around 1am and was welcomed warmly. The single room suited one traveller well, with a sink and hot water, a desk and comfortable chair, plus a TV with plenty of channels. Tea and coffee sachets were replenished daily, and the sheets were changed each day. The shared bathroom was clean and pleasant. Breakfast is served in the lobby, with plates costing £5-7.

The room was comfortable overall, though it did feel a little cold. Even with the heating set to its highest level, it didn’t seem to warm the room much. I had a private room, with a shared bathroom and toilet, and there was a hairdryer available. Breakfast was perfect for £10, with a traditional English breakfast. I especially liked the grilled egg with cheese, and the coffee machine offered plenty of free coffee and tea. Thanks for the service, Thomas, I was really happy.

Tomasz was brilliant and made me a lovely breakfast at 7am, nothing seemed too much trouble. I’d booked the night before because I needed to meet a contact in Glasgow, and the single room with breakfast came to £47. I was given the attic room, which suited me perfectly. The bed was comfortable, and there was WiFi, a skylight and a TV with a Virgin box. The shower was on the second floor and shared, which didn’t bother me as I’m ex forces.
